I rode my bike to school every day. I hitchhiked with my friends to go swimming in the sandpit before we could drive. The best Little League games were always played under the lights.

The day I turned 16, I got my license, bought a Dodge Dakota, and proudly put my scoped Ruger 10/22 behind the seat.

I was living an Andy Griffith lifestyle, but I didn’t know it. Part of that was because of the environment my parents created for me. But mostly, the world was just better back then. 

The government largely left people alone. Corporations didn’t ram a ‘woke’ agenda down our throats. And schools taught kids to question government overreach, not their own gender.

I’m sure you have a story that is similar to mine.

These days, it seems like every part of the government (from our local school boards to the White House) is trying to force us to fall into line — or face the consequences.

And that’s why the Left is trying to completely disarm the American people. They just can’t subjugate an armed population.

What you and I do over the next couple of years will decide if our gun rights (and our freedoms) remain intact, or not.

That’s why I hope that you will immediately renew your membership in Iowa Gun Owners for 2024, so that we can defend your gun rights in D.C., and expand them here in Des Moines!

The next session of the Iowa General Assembly is going to be pivotal for gun owners.

When gun owners fired Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House last year and took back control of that chamber, many gun owners breathed a well-earned sigh of relief. I know I did.

Many assumed that the gun control threat was largely muted since even the RINOs in D.C. would be slow to pass gun control.

The problem is that Joe Biden doesn’t care which party controls the Congress. In fact, he doesn’t seem to care much at all about passing his gun control agenda through Congress.

That’s because Biden is becoming a dictator, bypassing Congress and advancing an enormous amount of gun control through Executive Orders and bureaucratic decisions given to the ATF! 

First, Biden DECLARED a ban on foreign ammo importation.

Then he unilaterally BANNED the very popular pistol brace.

Next, Biden decided to CRACK DOWN on 80% lower receivers.

And earlier this year Biden redefined the term ‘firearms dealer’ to include anyone who ‘makes a profit.’ Once the ATF finalizes this rule, private party sales will effectively end!

This dictator is only getting bolder. And that’s why it’s up to the Iowa legislature to stand up for gun owners and pass the Second Amendment Preservation Act (SAPA) next session.

You see the FATAL FLAW in Biden’s gun control agenda is his almost complete dependence on state and local cops to enforce his Executive Orders. Without the use of our cops, Biden could mandate whatever he wants, but it wouldn’t be enforced in Iowa!

This concept isn’t new.

‘Blue’ states refused to help President Trump deport violent illegal aliens. ‘Red’ states can do the same thing, to stand up for the Second Amendment and law-abiding gun owners.

The idea of the states refusing to cooperate with the Federal government to do what’s in the best interest of their citizens isn’t new.

In fact, this approach has been upheld as constitutional by the Supreme Court repeatedly going back for hundreds of years!

That’s because SAPA doesn’t challenge the authority of the federal government or even Biden’s ability to pass gun control laws…it just says that Iowa cops won’t enforce them.

None of them.

Not a single one!

This is the law in nearby Missouri. And that means that 6,100,000 Missourians get to live their lives knowing that their cops only enforce gun laws enacted by the State of Missouri!

Last session we had more cosponsors than ever before on SAPA law and passed the pivotal Public Safety Sub-Committee.

Now it’s time to get this bill on Governor Reynold’s desk.

But this is going to be a fight. The Democrats, the media, the lobbyists, and a core group of moderates are opposing us.

That’s why it’s vital you renew your membership today: to make sure we have the resources we need to fight for SAPA!

But fighting for SAPA isn’t the only reason that I need you to renew your membership in Iowa Gun Owners. We also need to be on guard against any form of ‘Red Flag Gun Seizures.’

Ordinarily I wouldn’t be worried about this.

But things are different now. As we told you six weeks ago, Iowa has already received Part 1 of Joe Biden’s bribe money to help incentivize the legislature to pass ‘Red Flags.’

That first payment was $2,478,792!

Between federal money rolling in and Joni Ernst’s non-stop support for ‘Red Flags’ we are certainly seeing some Republicans soften in their opposition to this legislation.

‘Red Flag’ laws would be a disaster for Iowa. That’s because they allow liberal judges to hear a complaint against you (in secret) and then order the seizure of your firearms BEFORE you’ve been charged or convicted of a crime.

It’s the end of ‘innocent until proven guilty’ in America.

But with federal money flowing into Iowa and Senator Ernst’s support, I know that if we have a mass shooting in this country next session (God forbid) we will have a real fight on our hands to stop ‘Red Flag’ laws.

I am counting on your renewed support for 2024 because this fight is coming — it’s only a question of when.

But while the fight for freedom here in Des Moines is always going to be our primary focus, we can’t ignore what’s happening in D.C. right now.

And the truth is that we are seeing a renewed effort by the Biden White House to subject American gun owners to the dictates of the United Nations Small Arms Treaty.

In fact, Joe Biden officially added America as a signatory to this treaty not long ago. This was the necessary first step towards a full ratification vote in the United States Senate!

If enacted into law, the UN Small Arms Treaty would do three things:

First, it would establish a global firearm registry that would track the ‘end user’ of every single rifle, shotgun, and handgun sold in the world through an international database!

Second, it would require that any disputes over the enforcement of the treaty be adjudicated by an international tribunal of nations, not the United States Congress!

Third, it would establish a clearing house for ‘sample legislation’ that member nations would be forced to use to make sure that national laws comply with the terms of the treaty.

Make no mistake, while there are 3^rd World dictators and depots all over the globe who want to enact the UN Small Arms Treaty, Communist China is leading this effort!

And what makes this treaty a very real threat for you and me is that Biden DOES NOT need to run this through the GOP-controlled House. The Senate alone votes on treaties like this!

Chuck Schumer and his allies in the Senate, enraged that they can’t ban AR-15s and institute a national gun registry with the GOP blocking them in the House, are more than willing to advance the UN Small Arms Treaty.

The only thing Schumer is waiting on is support from a handful of RINO Senators so that the Democrats aren’t the only party that catches the blame for passing this.

We must continue to flood Senator Ernst with pressure, or she may betray gun owners over this treaty — just like she betrayed us when she backed Biden’s ‘Red Flag’ law last year!

But whether it’s fighting to advance SAPA, our plan to put the brakes on ‘Red Flag’ laws, or an all-out battle to stop the UN Small Arms Treaty, IGO must be able to mobilize gun owners through mail, email, text messages and social media videos.

That’s why I hope that you will renew your membership in Iowa Gun Owners immediately, so that we have the ammo we need to keep fighting for you in 2024! 

As always, the amount of your renewal is up to you. But our culture is teetering on the brink of…something awful. We need to secure as much freedom as we can. And that starts with SAPA!

At the same time, with federal dollars already flowing into Iowa to bribe the legislature into passing ‘Red Flag’ laws, there’s a fight coming over this issue. And in the wake of another mass shooting, anything is possible in Des Moines.

And with the UN Small Arms Treaty gaining momentum, it’s vital that we increase the pressure on Senator Joni Ernst!
