Anti-gun activist Michael Bloomberg must be grinning from ear to ear.
With only weeks left in the 2018 session of the Iowa General Assembly, elements of House and Senate Republican leadership are scheming to do the gun-grabbers’ work for them by KILLING Constitutional Carry!
You and I began the year with a head of steam, adding 18 Senate cosponsors to S.F. 2106 and looking like we were going to breeze through the Committee process.
But after the Valentine’s Day murders in Parkland, Florida, legislative leaders who told us they were “with us” on Constitutional Carry suddenly began waving the white flag of surrender in the face of anti-gun media elites’ mass hysteria.
Not all of them, to be sure, but too many!
The good news is, Senator Rick Bertrand (R-Sioux City) is prepared to pull out all the stops to FORCE a public roll-call vote on Constitutional Carry as an amendment before the end of the session.
But with time running out, I’m counting on you to please sign and submit the Constitutional Carry petition that I’ve prepared for you, right away.
As you’ll see, this petition simply insists that your State Senator votes “YES” on Senator Bertrand’s amendment.
It also states, in no uncertain terms, that you will be watching closely how your State Senator votes — and take that
action into account throughout this 2018 election year.
Trust me. That will send a message. Often, the ONLY thing many politicians truly care about is furthering their political careers.
They believe that after Parkland, Florida, they can stab us in the back on Constitutional Carry and we’ll “understand.”
I’m sorry, but this is flat-out unacceptable.
Tragedies like Parkland are exactly why we need more guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens.
I know gun-grabbers tell us that if we hand over all of our freedoms and privacy, they’ll give us safety and security like we’ve never dreamed.
But how are we supposed to believe that when the FBI just ignored this young man who admitted online his goal was to be a “professional school shooter?”
Then, law enforcement on the scene refused to engage the killer even as he gunned down the kids inside!
Gun control isn’t the answer. Killers just ignore gun control laws — just like they ignore “Gun Free Zone” signs and laws against murder.
The answer is removing government barriers that keep law-abiding citizens from exercising our God-given right to keep and bear arms.
That’s exactly what Constitutional Carry would do.
If passed, the Iowa Constitutional Carry Bill would restore the right of every law-abiding Iowa citizen to carry a gun to protect themselves and their families — WITHOUT going through a bunch of bureaucratic rigmarole!
That means no more expensive application fees, endless paperwork, or adding your name to a government database just to exercise your Second Amendment freedoms.
In short, if you’re legally able to own a firearm, you’re legally able to carry it. Period.
The good news is, despite the hand-wringing of nanny-staters like BILLIONAIRE anti-gun activist Michael Bloomberg, none of the states with Constitutional Carry are plagued with vigilante justice or Old West style shootouts.
That should be no surprise. Just the threat of running into someone who is armed is enough to convince many career criminals to think twice.
That’s a big reason why statistic after statistic proves that guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens means less crime.
In fact, according to a recent FBI “Crime in the United States” report, gun sales have hit record highs in recent years, while violent crime has dropped dramatically!
And a study commissioned by the Obama administration — which was supposed to help generate momentum for gun control — found that firearms are used in defensive cases up to three million times per year!
That study also found that those who have a firearm are less likely to be injured in a criminal attack than those who depend on a thug’s good will.
Constitutional Carry is the gun-grabbers’ worst nightmare because it proves that freedom works.
Help us pass it here in Iowa, sign your petition here!
But today, it isn’t Michael Bloomberg or his anti-gun pals in the press who are the biggest roadblock to passage of Constitutional Carry.
It’s legislative leaders who tell us they’re “friends” of the Second Amendment with fingers crossed behind their backs.
The good news is, Senator Bertrand is set to expose each and every one of them by bringing up Constitutional Carry as an amendment.
Just forcing this vote puts you and me in a win/win situation.
Either we get the votes we need to pass Constitutional Carry now — or the bad guys get exposed ahead of their 2018 Primary and General Election campaigns and pay the price at the polls.
So let your State Senator know that you are watching him, by signing your petition right away!
And when you are done, please consider a generous contribution of $100 if you can.
I know that’s a lot to ask for.
But time is running out during this session of the Iowa General Assembly.
And if the “experts” are correct — and the political winds do prove to be blowing against us this election year — this may be our best chance in a long time to pass Constitutional Carry.
Of course, if $100 is just too much, please agree to $50 or at least $25 right away.
Your generosity will help me pull out all the stops with everything from U.S. Mail and email, to social media and Internet ads, and even hard-hitting radio ads if I can raise the resources.
For Freedom,
Aaron Dorr
Executive Director
P.S. Certain legislative leaders in Iowa believe they can stab us in the back on Constitutional Carry and hope that we’ll “understand.”
I’m sorry, but that’s not going to happen. If the “experts” are correct — and the political winds do prove to be blowing against us this election year — this may be our best chance for some time to pass Constitutional Carry.
