Moments ago, the gavel fell on the start of the 2017 legislative session.
The time to fight for passage of Constitutional Carry and Stand-Your-Ground law begins now!
Gun owners were one of the loudest, if not the loudest, issue groups to pound the pavement in support of pro-gun candidates last fall.
Gun owners donated tons of money to pro-gun candidates, as well.
And, of course, you were generous with Iowa Gun Owners as well — giving us the ammo we needed to roll out a devastatingly effective election program last year which gave us our new pro-gun majorities.
Simply put, it’s time the legislature repay the debt that they owe to the tens of thousands of gun owners who put them there.
And as I said, that fight starts now!
(IGO’s Executive Director Aaron Dorr (R) and pro-gun champion Senator Rick Bertrand reviewing legislation at the Capitol on the opening day of the 2017 session.)
In the coming days we will be giving you tons of information about the legislation we’re working on this year and how you can be involved.
For now, please do these four things to get prepared for the 2017 legislative fight:
First, make sure you’re following us on Facebook so that we can keep you informed on a minute-by-minute basis.
Second, if you’ve not yet renewed your membership in Iowa Gun Owners, please do so now!
Third, please sign our petition in support of Constitutional Carry legislation today!
Fourth, get familiar with who your legislators are. There are many new faces in Des Moines, so be sure you know who to contact when that time comes.
Get ready folks, because passage of this bill isn’t going to happen on its own.
There are loud voices in Des Moines who will be advocating against your gun rights, as there always are.
At the same time, gun owners are a powerful force to be reckoned with in this state, especially at election time. We’ve proven that time and time again.
Now’s the time to cross the goal line, with passage of Constitutional Carry and Stand-Your-Ground legislation!
Let’s get to work!
For Freedom,
Aaron Dorr
Executive Director
P.S. Moments ago, the 2017 legislative session gaveled in to order in Des Moines. The fight to advance the Second Amendment began at the exact same time.
Gun owners were a potent force last fall, in booting out a host of anti-gun legislators and establishing a new pro-gun majority!
But it’s not time to relax, not at all.
Please follow us on Facebook for up to the minute updates, and sign your petition in favor of Constitutional Carry legislation as well!
Finally, if you’ve not renewed your membership for 2017, please do that here!
