Just over a year into Joe Biden’s four-year war against gun owners and the Second Amendment, the fight to secure our freedoms has turned from an aerial bombardment into trench warfare.
The depraved legislation that we saw filed every other day in Congress has tapered off, as gun owners sent a message to the United States Senate that passing bills like H.R. 121, S. 746, and others like it would lead to their obliteration in November.
And while that’s a success for gun owners to be sure, in many ways, the threats that we are facing right now in Congress are more dangerous and more insidious than the bills above because these threats have bipartisan support and could pass the Senate!

Take the Violence Against Women Act (S.3623), for example.
This bill initiates a criminal investigation every time someone fails a NICS check (even though they are almost always false positives) and temporarily federalizes local cops and prosecutors so they can prosecute violations of this bill in federal court.
If passed, S. 3623 will unleash federally funded havoc on gun owners. Despite that, this bill has the tacit support of the NRA and has been cosponsored by almost a dozen Republicans in the Senate and may be voted on very soon!
Iowa Gun Owners has been fighting against this legislation since last year, doing everything we can to flood Senators’ Grassley and Ernst with calls, emails, and petitions in opposition to it — and we’re not letting up!
This is just one of the compromised bills that we’re dealing with in Congress right now — there are at least four others.

Of course, we are also working overtime to advance the Second Amendment Preservation Act (SAPA) in Des Moines, too.
Since the day Joe Biden was declared the winner of the 2020 elections, we knew that we couldn’t leave our freedoms up to the whims of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer.
That’s why we are leading the fight for SAPA legislation (H.F. 2303.) You see, whether he can pass gun control in Congress or just decree it via Executive Orders, Joe Biden is counting on Iowa cops to enforce his war on gun owners.
But when we pass SAPA legislation into law, Iowa cops will be instructed to enforce Iowa laws when it comes to firearms and ammunition! And while this sounds fairly simple, the ramification of denying Biden access to Iowa cops is massive!
Should a liberal city in Iowa violate SAPA law, individual gun owners will be able to take that agency into civil court for damages, giving this legislation REAL TEETH!
Thanks to the work of Iowa Gun Owners, a full third of the Iowa House Republican Caucus has cosponsored this bill and the Senate version has already cleared the sub-committee process.
But we are facing an uphill battle, and we need to keep hammering on the legislature to insist passage of this bill.

Of course, Iowa Gun Owners is also gearing up for what will be an explosive 2022 midterm election cycle thanks to Joe Biden’s complete incompetence, which is sending his party’s poll numbers to levels that we haven’t seen in decades!
Frankly, other than fighting to pass pro-gun bills or defeat gun control bills during session, there is nothing more important for a gun rights organization to do than expose gun-grabbers at election time.
Iowa Gun Owners revels in this task and over the years our radio, TV, and digital ads — combined with our direct mail, slicks and ground game programs — have been devastatingly effective and paved the way for our legislative success!
The fall midterms present us with a chance to send a MASSIVE MESSAGE that Iowa stands for freedom and the Second Amendment, and that ANYONE who votes against that will pay the price.
But we aren’t funded by an out-of-state billionaire. Everything we do is because of the members of Iowa Gun Owners who so generously give us the resources we need to FIGHT for them!

As you can see, IGO is fighting non-stop at the federal, state, and local level to defend the Second Amendment, and we are gearing up for an all-out war later on in the year.
If you are not yet a member of Iowa Gun Owners, I hope that you’ll join in this fight to help us safeguard our right to keep and bear arms for the next generation to enjoy.
