Urge Gov. Reynolds to Sign HF-924!

Current Iowa law makes it a crime for an Iowa age 18, 19, or 20 to possess or carry a handgun. They can’t even apply for a concealed carry permit! This legislation would change that and lower the current requirement of 21 down to 18.

18–20-year-olds can die for their country, can get married, can have a family, can pay taxes, can have a career…the idea that they can’t possess and carry a handgun is simply wrong.

But it’s more than that, it’s unconstitutional in light of the Bruen decision and the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals (which we are in) agreed with that in a decision just last year.

House File 924, sponsored by gun rights champion Steve Holt, would fix that by lowering the age to possess and carry a handgun to 18! The House passed this bill 79-18 and the Senate passed it 33-14!

While you must be 21 to buy a handgun from a dealer, 18-20 year olds can receive a handgun from parents or purchase one in a private sale that doesn’t involve an FFL-dealer.

Now this bill is on Governor Reynolds desk! Please send this PRE-WRITTEN EMAIL to the governor and urge her to sign HF-924 into law right away!
