We have been worried about this since the legislature adjourned last fall, and now it’s here.
‘Red Flag Gun Seizure’ legislation has been filed here in Iowa — part of a massive group of gun control bills that were introduced recently in the Iowa House!
As you likely remember, this is the bill that would allow your firearms to be confiscated by the government before you’ve been arrested, indicted, or convicted of anything!
And this version (H.F. 123) is as bad as they come, as it includes ex-parte hearings, meaning that the court will have made their decision to seize your firearms without even giving you a chance to defend yourself!
And that’s just one of the bills that the radical gun control lobby has filed.
They also want to ban mags over ten rounds, ban many semi-automatic firearms, and REPEAL Iowa’s ‘Shall Issue’ law!
So please read the email below to find out what’s really going on in Des Moines, and then sign your petition opposing all of these gun control bills!

Just because the hyper-moderates in the Iowa House are refusing to fight for gun owners, doesn’t mean that the gun-grabbers in the House aren’t fighting for their base.
Just a few days ago, a massive number of gun control bills were introduced in the Iowa House!
And before you listen to a silly lawmaker who says ‘these won’t go anywhere,’ realize what’s going on here.
While Iowa House leaders are running away from gun owners by doing all they can to stop the advancement of Constitutional Carry, anti-gun lawmakers are pressing ahead with their agenda at every turn.
Their objective is clear: gun-grabbers are introducing an armada of anti-gun bills to ‘test the wire’ and to gauge the level of resistance that gun owners will put up.
Anti-gun leaders in the legislature are following a tried and true plan.
They file a gun control bill with a handful of sponsors and wait to see what gun owners do. If we don’t fight back, they can begin to lean on their colleagues to join them, reassuring them that ‘nothing will happen.’
That’s why I hope you’ll take a moment to sign the petition that we’ve prepared for you, telling your lawmakers to OPPOSE every single one of the gun control bill that have been filed in Des Moines.
More on that below.
As you are about to see, the days of gun-grabbers trying to ‘tinker around the edges’ or introduce ‘mild gun control’ are over.
Today’s anti-gun lawmakers hate the Second Amendment, they hate our freedom, and they won’t stop until you and I are completely disarmed.
Just some of the other bills that they are trying to ram into law this session include:
*** House File 123, sponsored by Representative Hunter and multiple
other lawmakers, which would implement ‘Red Flag Gun Seizures’
into law here in Iowa.
As you’ve heard from us before, ‘Red Flag Gun Seizure’ legislation would allow virtually anyone to have your guns seized by telling the government that ‘you’re dangerous.’
Conducted via ex-parte hearings that you know nothing about, these seizure orders would be issued before you’ve been arrested, indicted or convicted of anything
*** House File 127, sponsored by Representative Staed and eleven
other lawmakers, which is commonly referred to as ‘Universal
Background Checks.’
In reality, this bill is nothing more than an attempt to enact a STATEWIDE GUN REGISTRY! That’s because there’s no way such a scheme can be enforced without tracking every gun and gun owner in the state!
While such legislation has never stopped a committed murderer, who can simply bypass this law, it’s great at putting gun owners onto a government list
*** House File 115, sponsored by Representative Hunter and half a
dozen other lawmakers, which would repeal Iowa’s ten-year old
‘Shall Issue’ law.
Anti-gunners want to return Iowa to the days where law-abiding citizens were routinely denied a carry permit, simply because the sheriff doesn’t like your religion, politics, or what you do for a living.
Almost 275,000 Iowans received a permit to carry thanks to ‘Shall Issue’ legislation being passed. This bill would effectively strip them of their permits!
Of course, these are just a few of their bills.
Between a bill to ban virtually all semi-auto rifles (HF 125,) a bill to ban trigger cranks (HF 126,) a bill to ban magazines over 10 rounds (HF 124,) a bill to punish gun owners whose firearms are stolen (HF 116,) –- gun-grabbers in Des Moines have declared war on law abiding gun owners!
We need to fight back!
Legislators in Des Moines need to know that gun owners are organized and mobilized and willing to fight back against any attack on our gun rights!
That’s why, in addition to your signed petition, I hope that you’ll consider an immediate donation to Iowa Gun Owners.
In addition to that, I need to dramatically increase the size of our email lists, to help us be able to pour more pressure into the Capitol.
And we are already looking at deploying targeted mail into key districts of the members of the Public Safety Committee.
We need to run all of these programs, right away.
After all, multiple members of the Public Safety Committee have voted against Constitutional Carry on the floor of the House in the past!
We need to be able to stiffen the spines of these lawmakers — and nothing does that better than an avalanche of calls and emails from their districts.
So if you can donate $100, $50, $25 or even just $10 please do so right away.
Whatever you do, please sign your petition right away, that’s most important.
For Freedom,
Aaron Dorr
