With our gun rights under attack from what seems to be all sides right now, I want to personally invite you to attend the Iowa Gun Owners 2018 membership rally on June 16!
This is going to be the gun rights event of the year here in Iowa, and you don’t want to miss it.
With the media and anti-gun lawmakers across the state screaming for gun control — not to mention weak-kneed legislative ‘leaders’ being too scared to take action on Constitutional Carry legislation –- it’s important that we rally together.
While we are still ironing out the final details, here is just some of what you can expect at the 2018 Iowa Gun Owners rally:
>>> A legislative update from some of the best Second Amendment champions in the Iowa legislature on the impact that IGO members are having in Des Moines!
>>> An update from myself of the fight for Constitutional Carry and our plans to hold lawmakers accountable for their votes in the upcoming mid-term elections!
>>> A keynote address from a nationally known gun rights leader in Washington D.C., on the fight for Second Amendment freedom at the national level!
But there’s more, a lot more!
This is a gun rights rally, so this wouldn’t be complete without guns -– a lot of guns!
That’s why I’m pleased to announce that Iowa Gun Owners is teaming up with Jerry’s Machine Guns and Sure Shot Range to give you a chance to shoots DOZENS of full-auto machine guns at the IGO member rally!
Just some of the guns you will be able to shoot at this exclusive event include:
*** The M249 SAW, a .223 belt-fed machine gun in use by American forces around the world as we speak;
*** The M60, a .30 caliber belt-fed machine gun that is well known to gun owners from the Vietnam War;
*** The German MG-42, this WWII era belt-fed 7.62 caliber machine gun makes a noise that you just won’t forget;
*** The Browning .30, a short-barreled belt-fed .30 caliber, this gun is known as the ‘Hot Rod Browning’ and you will love it!
But these are just the big guns!
You will also have the chance to test-fire any of the following full auto guns: Tommy Gun, UZI, M16, AK47, H&K MP5, M14, HK33, WWII Grease Gun, British Sten, Soviet PKM, a full auto Glock and much more!
All told, there will be almost 75 different types of full-auto machine guns that you can test-fire — and having shot about half of these, I can promise you’ll leave with a big grin on your face.
(Please note that the machine gun range is in conjunction with, but separate from, the IGO rally — so you’ll need to bring cash to participate in the machine gun shoot. And while some eye/ear protection will be available, it would be smart to grab your own from home.)
But if you are new to guns, and just want to be able to learn more about them and test fire some in a safe environment, we have that covered as well.
Steve Smith, and his crew with Double Action Defense from Algona, will be on hand operating a totally separate pistol range (about 1/3 of a mile from the machine gun pit) for beginner shooters.
What’s more, we’ll be providing a variety of 9mm handguns and some limited free ammo for you to try out, so all you have to do is show up!
Here are some of the specifics:
Time: 10:00am – 4:00pm
Location: Sure Shot Range, 1777 55th St, Mt. Auburn, IA
Set in rural Mt. Auburn (so we can shoot machine guns!), Sure Shot Range is not far from Cedar Rapids or Waterloo and there are plenty of hotels nearby if you need one.
We will also have food vendors and portable restrooms on site.
I don’t know about you, but I am sick and tired of the media and anti-gun lawmakers trying to make gun owners feel guilty for being proud of the Second Amendment!
I am proud to be a gun owner.
I am proud to be able to pass this heritage on to my children.
And, one day, I intend to pass this love for freedom and personal responsibility down to my grandchildren.
So please come out and celebrate the Second Amendment with us on Saturday, June 16!
