With the 2018 session of the Iowa General Assembly having just kicked off, I’ve been up virtually all night putting the finishing touches on Iowa Gun Owners’ program strategy for this session.
But there’s something I have to tell you.
After the tragedies in Las Vegas, Nevada and Sutherland Springs, Texas in recent months, I’m afraid my hopes of focusing solely on building on our success after passing Stand-Your-Ground law last year are out the window.
Sensing that the political winds will be blowing their way in the 2018 election year, gun-grabbers in the Iowa General Assembly think the political winds may be turning, giving them a chance to push gun control in the coming session.
And with a high-profile sexual harassment case embroiling Senate leadership, the General Assembly will likely start out in chaos — which will only embolden the gun control crowd even more.
That’s why I’m facing an incredibly tough decision today –perhaps the toughest I’ve ever had to make since the creation of Iowa Gun Owners, in fact.
So I need your advice.
As you’ll see below, I’ve prepared a special 2018 Iowa Gun Owners Membership Ballot for your consideration and I’m counting on you to fill it out and submit it back to me IMMEDIATELY.
The truth is, without an IMMEDIATE influx of funds, I’m afraid I’m going to have to make major cuts in our 2018 programs.
Believe me, there’s nothing I would hate more — especially with so much at stake.
But with BILLIONAIRE gun-grabbers like Michael Bloomberg and their pals in the media taking every opportunity to drive up anti-gun hysteria, you and I must stay on red alert.
Especially after the Las Vegas and Sutherland Springs murders, even just one more shooting rampage by a madman or ISIS wannabee could be enough to tip the scales for any one of the gun-grabbers’ “innocent-sounding” Second Amendment assaults.
Already, anti-gun politicians like Rep. Art Stead and others are promising to unveil a host of gun control bills, including:
*** So-called “Universal Background Checks,” which is nothing more than code for STATEWIDE GUN REGISTRATION. There’s no way such a scheme can be enforced without tracking every gun and gun owner in the state!
Of course, gun-grabbers continue to claim “90% public support” for this scheme that’s supposed to protect us all from the next killer.
But remember, it was the national check system’s failure that allowed the Texas killer to purchase the firearm he shouldn’t have been allowed to own!
*** “Mental Health” gun-grabs to allow anti-gun state bureaucrats to strip you of your Second Amendment freedoms without any adjudication.
Under current law, those who are a danger to themselves or others are already prohibited from owning weapons.
But what gun-grabbers want is the arbitrary power for government bureaucrats to ban you from owning guns — just because they don’t like your race, religion, or the bumper sticker on the back of your vehicle.
And there are already more than a handful of weak-kneed legislators who voted for Stand-Your-Ground law last year that want to prove how “reasonable” they can be.
If either one of these gun-grabs start to gain traction, it would be nothing short of a DISASTER.
But before you do, please consider that sometimes the best defense is a good offense . . .
And you and I have a rare opportunity right now to build on our success with Stand-Your-Ground, take advantage of the pro-gun majorities in Des Moines that we haven’t seen since the 1990’s, and make Constitutional Carry a reality.
If passed, the Iowa Constitutional Carry Bill would restore the right of every law-abiding Iowa citizen to carry a gun to protect themselves and their families — WITHOUT going through a bunch of bureaucratic rigmarole!
That means no more expensive application fees, endless paperwork, or adding your name to a government database — just to exercise your Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.
In short, if you’re legally able to own a firearm, you’re legally able to carry it. Period.
Frankly, it’s the best and perhaps only solution to stopping killers and madmen.
The truth is, just the threat of running into someone who is armed is enough to convince many career criminals to think twice.
So Constitutional Carry will most assuredly mean more law-abiding citizens carrying firearms. It won’t be long until violent crime rates start sinking like a rock.
In fact, according to a recent FBI “Crime in the United States” report, gun sales have hit record highs in recent years while violent crime has dropped dramatically!
And a study commissioned by the Obama administration — which was supposed to help generate momentum for gun control — found that firearms are used in defensive cases up to three million times per year!
This is the way it’s been done in Vermont, Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona and Wyoming for some time.
And just in the past two years, Constitutional Carry has passed in Kansas, Maine, Idaho, Mississippi, neighboring Missouri, North Dakota, New Hampshire and West Virginia.
There’s no reason it can’t happen here.
In fact, you and I just PROVED we can force the Iowa General Assembly to act last year with passage of Stand-Your-Ground law!
With your help, I believe we can do it again!
But before you do, please don’t forget that 2018 is an absolutely critical election year.
Gun-grabbers in Iowa are desperate to DESTROY the momentum you and I have built for our gun rights, attempt to seize back control of the Iowa House, and get back to work turning Iowa into an anti-gun utopia like California, Massachusetts and New York.
Virtually everyone — from anti-gun media elites to political “experts” — claim they have the momentum.
I’m committed to fighting back.
In fact, I’m preparing to run the biggest election year program in our history.
Over the past few years, Iowa Gun Owners has become one of the most FEARED forces in state politics.
That’s not because we play buddy-buddy with legislators and cozy up to them until they like us.
It’s because they HATE US.
It’s because every legislator knows that if they betray us on guns, gun owners like you and me will expose them — like we’ve done time and time again.
And legislators know when election time rolls around, they will be held accountable for EVERY vote.
My goal is to go on the attack ahead of both the 2018 primaries and General Election to ensure that every anti-gun member of our General Assembly in BOTH parties is exposed.
I’ll use every tool at my disposal from mail and email, to social media, to hard-hitting radio, newspaper and even TV ads if I can raise the resources.
Such a program is going to be very expensive.
But it could not be more important — not with BILLIONAIRE gun-grabbers like Michael Bloomberg and George Soros looking for Midwestern states like Iowa they can jump into with both feet.
I’m sure you can see why I’m so torn today — and why I can’t decide where I should seek to focus budget cuts should they become necessary.
The truth is, every option makes my stomach churn.
Perhaps you think stopping the gun-grabbers’ assaults is most important.
Perhaps you believe it’s worth the risk to hope that it takes care of itself and we should focus on Constitutional Carry.
Or perhaps you believe concentrating on the 2018 elections should be Iowa Gun Owners’ top priority.
Whatever you decide, please mark your selection on your Membership Ballot.
And please agree to rush your most generous contribution to help cover the costs of these critical programs.
Of course, there is one more option.
It’s an option I’ve yet to mention because it will not — under any circumstances — be possible without a massive influx of resources.
But if you pick this option, please realize I’m going to need your most generous support — as much or even more than what you’ve been able to do in the past.
In fact, I hope you’ll consider a contribution of $100.
I know that’s a lot to ask for.
But as we head into the 2018 election year, there’s just so much at stake.
Of course, if $100 is just too much, please consider a contribution of $50 or at least $25.
Whatever you can give will make a difference.
But I need to hear from you IMMEDIATELY.
With the General Assembly set to go back into session, I don’t have a moment to waste.
For Freedom,
P.S. With the General Assembly set to go back into session in just days, I need your advice.
Without an influx of funds, I’m going to be forced to cut back on our crucial legislative agendas.
So please fill out your 2018 Membership Ballot and submit it back to me right away, and please consider a generous contribution of $100, $50 or at least $25 TODAY!
Thank you, in advance, for your input and support.
