Petition to: The Members of the House Judiciary Committee and Speaker of the House Pat Grassley
Whereas: The 2024 elections are going to be tight. By January, the Democrats could have a complete lock on Congress. If that happens, they’ll try to pass their entire gun control agenda right away. And Biden will demand that Iowa cops enforce this tyranny on Iowans; and
Whereas: The Second Amendment Preservation Act (SAPA) would protect Iowans from this, by instructing Iowa cops to only enforce Iowa laws when it comes to firearms, ammunition, and accessories – requiring them to ignore federal gun control laws as is our right as a sovereign state; and
Whereas: SAPA legislation also protects Iowa cops who are currently forced to choose between enforcing unconstitutional Executive Orders, or disobeying an order and losing their jobs; and
Whereas: SAPA has tremendous Supreme Court precedent backing it up. That’s why when Missouri passed this identical legislation in 2021, it survived repeated court challenges brought against it by the DOJ.
Therefore: As a member of the Judiciary Committee, I urge you to stop blocking HF-147 and to approve it with no weakening amendments. This is my TOP PRIORITY and I’ll be watching your vote!
